INTRODUCING
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)
Best Treatment for Survivors of Trauma

We are providing an evidenced based practice for effective reprocessing of traumatic memories.  A tapper provides gentle tactile alternating bilateral stimulation through probes held in both hands.  Studies show that EMDR increases one’s ability to recall and process traumatic memories.  High levels of emotion, flashbacks, and depersonalization may be signs of repressed memories following highly stressful experiences.

Please contact us if you want help dealing with traumatic events in your life.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Kessler Psychological Services we believe that people can heal, change and grow. Our calling is to help you discover your inner strength and begin to feel content. Individuals move through various life stages, each calling for new skills. It is very difficult to stand back and honestly assess oneself. It is also difficult to gauge family members because we tend to minimize our family’s failings in order to preserve self-esteem.

The clinical staff at our practice believes that counseling can help to identify perceptions and coping mechanisms that have worn out their usefulness and are in fact causing problems in relationships and job/school success. We will help you refrain from comparing yourself to others, criticizing yourself and those around you, but instead shift focus on your strengths. The inability to accept ourselves as we are, prevents healthy risk taking and thus slows growth and change.

We all have problems! It is part of the human condition. In therapy we will work on addressing the impact of negative self-concept, fear, shame, and inappropriate guilt. You will see how these thinking styles interfere with your ability to experience life in a positive manner. We will also help in addressing destructive family patterns that can lead to problems with child rearing, adolescent misbehavior, and feeling helpless or inadequate.

Positive change is attainable for all. Don’t hesitate to call or email us. We see our clients as courageous and admirable for realizing that help is needed and available. We recognize that those who come asking for assistance are taking a mature and valid step that in no way diminishes personal ability to solve problems.

We’ll look forward to meeting you!
